William Gordon Bishop, 89, was lifted into the Lord’s arms November 12, 2020. He was born June 15, 1931 in Montgomery, Alabama to Gordon Fortune Bishop and Margaret Elizabeth Connolly.
William joined the service at age nineteen. He served in the U.S. Navy from October 1950 through December 1954 as a 2nd Class Radio Technician. He earned the distinguished decorations of National Defense, Korean Service, United Nations and Good Conduct. In 1956, William married Norma Gail Green. His hobbies included photography, puzzles, camping and fishing. William worked at Roach Medical as a sales manager in Chicago, Illinois, later moving to Texas in 1977 and working in medical sales for Litton & Nova. He then traveled north to Fredericksburg, Virginia from 1986-2002. After 2002, Texas became his permanent home.
William is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sons, Mathew and Gordon Ross Bishop. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Musgrove (Douglas R. Musgrove) and Wanda Faye Ennis; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held December 12, 2020 at 11 A.M.. at Sand Prairie Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Andrews officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
