Obituary

Waylon Lee Henley, of Kingwood, Texas, peacefully left this earth May 25, 2026, at the age of 54, after a very courageous two-year battle with cancer. We are comforted in knowing he is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Waylon was born on April 26, 1972, in Marks, Mississippi, to Billy Jack Henley and Mary Kathleen Henley. He was raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma and graduated from Plainview High School in 1990. Waylon was an accomplished singer-songwriter, musician, and actor whose passion for country music defined much of his life and career. Music was not only his profession, but his calling. He loved performing, writing songs, and sharing his gift with audiences throughout the Houston area and beyond. Through his music, he built lifelong friendships and touched the hearts of fans and supporters around the world.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Virginia Henley and Noble and Doris Elder; and his niece, Sophia Grace Henley. Waylon is survived by his mother, Mary Henley Daniel, and stepfather, Troy Don Daniel, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; his "Pop," Glenn McCampbell, of Kingwood, Texas; a longtime partner, Lori Housley, of Kingwood, Texas; an estranged wife, Crystal Lovenne Henley, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; aunt, Deloris Edwards, of Shamrock, Texas; one brother, Christopher Henley and wife Kimberly, along with nephews Jonathan, Preston, and Parker, of Coppell, Texas; stepbrother, Joe Daniel and family of Durant Oklahoma; and stepsister, Anita James and family of College Station, Texas.

He also leaves behind his music community family, his close friends and supporters throughout the Houston area, whom he cherished, his loyal worldwide followers, and his beloved little dog, Harmony. Waylon will be remembered for his talent, his love of country music, performing, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him. His music will live on through recordings and videos he left us to enjoy.

Celebration of Life services will be held in Kingwood, Texas, and Ardmore, Oklahoma, with details to come.
