Teresa Kay Hickman

Teresa, 62, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, was born on July 12, 1963, in Hillsboro, Texas to proud parents James and Linda Lane and passed away in Bryan, Texas on July 7, 2026.

Teresa found her greatest joy in being "Nana" and leaves behind a legacy of authenticity, genuine connection, and an unforgettable spirit. To know Teresa was to truly love her. She will be remembered for her straightforward nature and never shying away from "telling it like it was." She had a way with language, often very colorful, but after forty-four years with Scooter, who could blame her? They teased and picked at each other, but everyone knew the depth of their love.

Teresa held a special place in her heart for her animals; they weren't just pets, they were her "babies." She would often talk to them as if they were human, and they probably understood her better than most. You never knew when she might show up with a new furry friend or even five.

While crafting was her passion, nothing lit up her world quite like her grandchildren. One thing about Teresa was that she always showed up. Through all her pain, whether walking with a walker, being pushed in a wheelchair, or zooming along in her scooter, nothing would stop her. That's what we'll miss most about her. She always found a way to make you feel loved and thought about. Every interaction with Teresa was memorable. Her genuine warmth and vibrant personality will live on in the memories of all who knew her. She lived a life rich in love, unwavering support, and truth, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled. Her fierce love and consistent presence will forever remain in our hearts.

Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, James Bethel and Linda Carlene (Benkley) Lane.

Those left to cherish Teresa’s memory are her husband or forty-four years, Dale “Scooter” Hickman; daughter, Tiffany Hickman; son, Lance Hickman (Laney); grandchildren, Maddox Pee, Kynlee Hickman, Brantlee Hickman, Riley Hickman and Myka Fontenot, as well as other nephews, extended family and loving friends.

A funeral service remembering Teresa will be held in the chapel of the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 3 P.M. Visitation will take place one hour before the service beginning at 2 P.M.
