Ronald Earl Corbell, affectionately known by family and friends as “Ronnie," went to be with the Lord at his home in Midway, Texas on September 23, 2025. He was born to proud parents, Earl and Elsie Corbell, on October 24, 1934, and was blessed with 90 years of life marked by service to those around him. Ronnie has made his transition to eternity. He has been set free, into the Lord’s presence!
Ronnie’s family moved to Longview, Texas when Ronnie was a boy where he graduated from Pine Tree High School. During high school, Ronnie developed a passion for the tuba and sports soon followed. He participated in everything available to him. He was a versatile athlete but excelled in football and caught some attention from college scouts. He made the choice to play at the University of Houston and did so successfully for three years from 1952 to 1955, until he injured his knee.
Ronnie soon made the decision to leave college and enlisted in the US Army. It was during this time that Ronnie met the love of his life, Charlene. They married, and together set a wonderful example as they remained faithful to one another for sixty-five years. Upon Ronnie’s honorable discharge, the young couple made the trek to the Mont Belview area where Ronnie was reacquainted with his love for music. He was called as the music minister for Old River Baptist Church and served there for twenty-five years.
Ronnie adored his wife and family. He was likeable, outgoing and everyone loved him. Most of all, Ronnie loved the Lord and will be remembered as an instrument of His righteousness, used by God to reach into the lives of many.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Elsie (Parkhill) Corbell; his wife, Charlene; and brothers, Billy and Wayne Corbell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Bruce Corbell; daughters, Linda Rupp and Pam Mt. Joy; five grandchildren, Dallas Corbell, Sara Rupp, Taylor Rupp, Randy Rupp-Hennigan (Jonathan) and Tyler Mt.
