Obituary

Robert R. Ochoa, 64, of Woodsboro, Texas, passed away on June 7, 2026, in College Station, Texas. He was born on April 15, 1962, in Refugio, Texas, to Fidencio and Sylvia (Flores) Ochoa.

Robert was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He began his early career as a welder and later earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering. For more than two decades, he was a dedicated member at Rodeo Austin, where he played an active role in the calf scramble and the rodeo committee.

Known for his generous spirit and welcoming nature, Robert had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel at home. He had a passion for cooking, especially barbecue, and took great joy in sharing meals with family, friends, and anyone who happened to stop by.

Above all, Robert was devoted to his family. He treasured every moment spent with his beloved granddaughter, Hadley, who brought immense joy to his life. He was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second granddaughter, Blayne.

Robert was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Luis Villagran & Maria Alfaro and Agapito & Christina Ochoa and his uncles, Alejandro "Cando" Ochoa and Daniel "Dirty Dan" Ochoa.

He is survived by his parents, Fidencio and Sylvia (Flores) Ochoa; his daughter, Codi Mathis & husband, Will Mathis, of Madisonville, Texas and Teresa Garza-Ochoa; his granddaughter, Hadley J. Mathis; his soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Blayne R. Mathis; his best friends, Mike Villareal and Manny Trinidad; and numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
