Rebecca Joy Medina

Rebecca Joy Medina was born on August 31, 1999 in Bryan, Texas to David and Sheila Medina. Rebecca walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on the evening of May 25, 2019 at the age of 19. Rebecca was preceded in death by her brother, Carlos Rodriguez Medina and paternal grandfather, Paul Coborn.

Rebecca is survived by her parents, Pastor David & Sheila Medina of Cornerstone Bible Church in Madisonville, Texas; her sister, Erica Weber and Erica’s husband, Skylar of Odessa, Texas; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Coborn of Madisonville, Texas; paternal grandparents, Onesimo & Ninfa Medina of Houston, Texas and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. In addition, Rebecca leaves behind her boyfriend and love, Ross Boyette of Jasper, Texas.

Rebecca grew up in Singleton, Texas until she and her family moved to Madisonville in 2011. She graduated with her high school diploma through the Brazos Valley Christian Home Educators Association in 2017. On March 30, 2019, Rebecca graduated from the College Station Dental Assistant School where she achieved her goal of becoming a dental assistant. She was employed with Element Dental as part of their Orthodontic team and loved her job.

Rebecca had a servant’s heart and served in several capacities throughout her young life. She served as a youth worship leader at Madisonville Christian Fellowship and was currently the worship leader at Life Church in Leona, Texas where she was a member. Life Church was her second family, and she loved each and everyone one of them dearly. Her love of music was infectious and she used her talent to glorify the Lord. Just as her middle name implied, Rebecca was a Christian woman full of joy for life and her Lord.

Rebecca was an avid lover of music, fashion, make-up, hair, and especially people. She was a lover of words and inspired those around her daily with them. She had numerous friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord through worship and encouraging others. She aspired to change the world through her music and loving others like Jesus. She was a light in this dark world for anyone she encountered. Her captivating smile and outgoing personality were like no other, and her love for Jesus was contagious.

Rebecca will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Mark Gray, pastor of Life Church, will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the New Energy Cemetery in Houston County, east of Crockett. The Medina family will receive friends Friday, May 31, 2019 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
