Patrick Hugh Mcmahan

Patrick Hugh McMahan, 71, of North Zulch, Texas, was called to his heavenly home on October 2, 2017, with his loving wife of 51 years by his side.

Pat was born in Houston on August 2, 1946, to Arlie and Velma (Raymond) McMahan. He was the special “little brother” of Arlene Loving, whom he loved dearly.

Pat joined Stewart and Stevenson at 17 years of age to work in the machine shop. His enthusiasm and natural “can do” spirit quickly propelled him into many different roles throughout the company over the next 34 plus years. He traveled worldwide to numerous countries in the capacity of salesman, engineer, and project manager as the company expanded their services into cogeneration. Path the “retired” to his second lifetime career of raising cattle on the land that had been in his family for more than 100 years. He found joy in the peace and solitude of the country, nurturing the land, working and caring for the cattle, watching and listening to the birds, and enjoying the beauty of God surrounding all.

He was a man of faith and loved God and his family. His children, grandchildren and wife were the joys of his life and what kept him here on this earth through health challenges that most would never have endured. Service to others has always been important to Pat. For the past several years, he served as a Director on the board of the Bedias Creek Soil and Water Conservation District. He also served on the Board of Deacons at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and previously served at Broadmoor Christian, and Kirkwood Disciples of Christ in Houston.

Pat has always been fun loving and got the biggest kick out of pulling pranks and jokes on this best friends, whether at work, church, or around family - he loved to laugh and enjoyed life. There was never a dull moment around Pat. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing sports - anything from football and baseball to bowling, horseshoe pitching, and being on the barbeque cook-off team from work. He loved the out-of-doors and spent many a year camping, boating, fishing, horseback riding, hunting and photography. His most recent quest has been of the ocean, and he studied for and dreamed of scuba diving and of swimming with the sharks.

Pat’s loving mother, Velma McMahan, and father, Arlie McMahan, will be waiting with our Lord to welcome him into heaven. Left to cherish his memories, are his wife, Susan (Heussner) McMahan, and sons, Brent, Scott, Lance and Shawn McMahan, and their precious families, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers are sons, Brent, Scott, Lance and Shawn McMahan, and cousins, Tommy Raymond and Mike Muhl. Honorary Pallbearers’ names are grandsons, Nathan, Sidney, John Patrick, Darrick, Ethan, and Ayden McMahan, and granddaughters, Elizabeth, Kali, and Eleanor McMahan.
