Patricia Jane Spikes

January 27, 1940 — May 26, 2024

Normangee

Patrica Jane (Manning) Spikes of Normangee, Texas, was born to L.O. and Ruth Manning in Bryan, Texas, on January 27, 1940, and was the oldest of thirteen children. She passed away in Normangee, Texas, at the age of 84.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-three years, Joe Neal Spikes; five siblings, Precious Manning, Paulette Harris, Virginia Manning, Sam Manning, and Sharon Crenshaw; two daughters, Teresa Bennett and Sonya Gierisch; and two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Herrington and Raylan Fairbanks.

Pat is survived by her siblings, Rebecca Utermark, Carolyn Munsey, Chan King, Ila Newson, Mark Manning, Esther Powell, and Clinton Manning; three children, Kelly (Cheryl) Spikes, Lamar (Sondra) Spikes, and Polly (Nathan) Stewart; sixteen grandchildren, Skyler, Kelly Brooke, Jaclyn, Kelsey, Stormy, Adelyn, Megan, Melanie, Macy, Madisen, Star, Johnny III, JamesGuy, JoeGavyn, England, and Pollyanna and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Pat attended Normangee High School where she met the love of her life. She was famous for her German Chocolate cake and known for her beautiful handwriting. Having taught piano lessons for over 40 years, one of her greatest joys was her piano students and the year-end recitals. Whether it was playing the piano for her local church or numerous funerals throughout the years, many times Pat could be found sharing her God-given talent in service to her community.

A loving and caring mother, by far Pat’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.   Always ready to greet you with a smile and a hug, she let you know that you were loved.  Pat lived a life dedicated to the Lord and His service.   Ever mindful of those in need, it was not unusual for her to be found helping those less blessed.  Though saddened by the temporary parting, her family rejoiced with her on Sunday, May 26, as she achieved her life’s desire to ever be with the Lord.

A funeral service honoring Pat's remarkable life will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Burial will follow in Wealthy Cemetery outside of Normangee, Texas. A time of visitation will take place Tuesday, May 28th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
