Ouida Maude Spivey, 97, of Madisonville, Texas passed away on February 14, 2024 in Madisonville, Texas. She was born on February 5, 1927 to John and Gertie (Flint) Thomas in North Zulch, Texas. Ouida married Cecil Spivey in 1942. She was a founding member of the Highway 90 Church of Christ in Madisonville. Ouida was a very kind and thoughtful Christian wife, mother and neighbor. She worked very hard everyday while raising five children.

Ouida was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Cecil Spivey; sons, James Spivey and Charles Spivey; grandchild, David Wells; and siblings, Fred Thomas, Retha Miller, Bettie Shouinard and James "Henry" Thomas. She is survived by her son, Wayne Spivey (Kathleen) of Huntsville, Texas; daughters, Joyce Singletary (Dan) of Madisonville, Texas, and Kathy Wells (Mark) of Bryan, Texas; grandchildren, Greg Spivey (Julie), Carmen Spivey, Kimberly Singletary, Sara Newton (Matt), Janet Clifton (David), and Scott Wells; great-grandchildren, Ryan Spivey, Marlow Novastars, Charlie Newton, Aubrey Newton, Hank Newton, Peyton Clifton, Olivia Clifton, and Abigail Clifton; sister, Johnnie Willhite of Katy, Texas; daughter-in-law, Jane Spivey of Lovelady, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A graveside service for Ouida will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Madisonville Cemetery, Madisonville, Texas, under the pavilion. Wayne Scott will officiate the service.
