Obituary

Funeral services for Mitchell Gressett, age 67, will be held 1 P.M., Monday, February 24, 2020, at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Shannon Gressett, Mitchell’s nephew, will officiate the service. A brief visitation will take place before the service beginning at 10 A.M.

Mitchell Ray Gressett was born February 12, 1953 in Hempstead, Texas to Ira Lee & Eddielee (Capps) Gressett. He was raised in Houston and a graduate of Cy-Fair High School. When Mitchell and his brothers weren’t attending school, they worked at a neighbor's family Dairy Farm alongside their father.

Mitchell worked as a welder his whole adult life, beginning at High Fab Maintenance and C & J Valve, both in Houston. He was recruited by Nucor Steel to work at their plant in Jewett and remained there as a welder on the maintenance crew until his retirement.

Mitchell enjoyed collecting guns and knives. He also made sure that he kept an abundant selection of school supplies for his grandchildren, in case they ran out of their own. Most will most fondly remember Mitchell as a jokester with the most outgoing and magnetic personality who never met a stranger. He had lived in the Concord area for the past forty-five years and was Baptist in faith.

Mitchell passed away suddenly and unexpectedly February 21, 2020 at his home in Concord. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; son, Shane Earl Gressett and brothers, Michael Rex and Fred Dewayne Gressett. He will be greatly missed by wife, Shirley Gressett of Concord; son, Harlon Gressett of Concord; daughters, Alicia Gressett of Marion, IL and Sherry Williams (Jeremy) of Concord; grandchildren, Tanner Marie Farris, Trinity Warner & Aspen Clark and great grandson, Jaxon Swearingen, as well as, numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Pallbearers: Travis Gressett, Bubba Hennard, Mike Gressett, Jesse Lowery, Charissa Lowery, Jeremy Williams
