Marjorie Green Sandles was born on December 15, 1924 in Groesbeck, Texas to the parentage of Will Green and Penny (Smith) Green.

Marjorie united with the Chapel Hill Baptist Church under Rev. W.M. Fenell. She later united with her home church, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, were she served in many capacities.

She attended elementary school in Groesbeck, Chapel Hill and Madisonville, Texas. She graduated from Amarillo High School in Amarillo, Texas. She furthered her educational studies by obtaining her Teacher's Certificate from Butler College in Tyler, Texas and received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Elementary Education from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. She did further studies of interest at Prairie View A&M University, Sam Houston State University and the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.

Marjorie taught school for thirty-nine (39) years. She began her career at Chapel Hill, then Madisonville and Hubbard, retiring from Coldspring, Texas.

She united in holy matrimony to Winston Theodore Sandles on March 2, 1947.

Her earthly transition to her heavenly home was on December 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and four brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Jackie D. (Sandles) Wooten; a son-in-law, Dr. Dennis C. Wooten; a grandson, Dennis J. Wooten of The Woodlands; a son, Larry D. Sandles; a daughter-in-law, Melvin Jean Sandles; a granddaughter, Marcy L. Sandles of Dallas; sisters-in-law, Jessie Sandles of Houston; Eler Mae of Houston; two devoted sisters-in-law, Ann Philio Sandles of Madisonville and Gwendolyn Sandles Byrd of San Antonio; brother-in-law, William Sandles, Jr. of Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Homegoing services for Mrs. Marjorie G. Sandles, 96, will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Madisonville, Texas. Interment will follow in High Prairie Cemetery. A public visitation will be held 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., Friday, December 17, 2021 at Madisonville Funeral Home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
