Lee Earl Glass, 85, was born in Madisonville, Texas to proud parents, Grady and Francis Glass on June 8, 1939, and made his entrance into glory on May 4, 2025.
Lee was a person who set a fine example for others to follow. He was a patriot and honorably served his country in the United States Army where he learned the value of commitment as he remained diligent to his duties. He further developed a very strong work ethic and found great fulfillment in working hard at his job where he was highly respected for the quality of his work as a parts inspector in the oil industry.
Early in his life, Lee was quite an athlete. He played football and was proud of his time as a “Bulldog” at Iola High School. He enjoyed sports throughout his adult years. He played fast-pitch softball and served his community as a baseball coach as he invested in the lives of others in sharing his own passion for the game. Lee was an outdoorsman who never passed up a chance to go deer hunting or drop a line in a nearby watering hole.
Lee loved and adored his family and would do anything for them. He always made efforts to stay connected with his children and spent many hours sitting with his daughter as they watched some favorite shows like Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show, and Gunsmoke to name a few. They also enjoyed going to rodeos and other local festivals together. Lee had an observable relationship with Jesus Christ and lived out his faith in observable ways. He rarely missed church over the years and welcomed opportunities to help when needed. Lee remained committed to his wife Nita for fifty-five years and will be fondly remembered by those who knew him. He was truly an instrument of God’s righteousness used by the Lord to reach into the lives of many.
Lee is preceded by both of his parents, Grady and Francis (Lawson) Glass, his wife of fifty-five years, Opal Nita (Murchison) Glass; son, Timothy Earl Glass; daughter, Anita Dorene Glass; and brothers, Clarence and Leon Glass and son-in-law Dennis Allen Featherston.
Those left to cherish Lee’s memory are his son, Kevin Glass (Julie); daughter, Karen Glass; brother, Jim Glass (Laura); sister, Myrtle Garrett (Pat); grandchildren, Kyle and Grace Glass, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.
A funeral service, officiated by Bro. Pat Garrett, will take place on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 12 P.M. at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Pankey, Texas. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in the Pankey Cemetery.
