Laura Kathleen Rowlett

Laura Kathleen Robinson Rowlett, a child of God, a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend went peacefully to be with our Lord Jesus Christ July 21, 2026, in Grapevine, Texas surrounded by her loving and devoted family at the age of 85. She was born the third child, and first-born daughter of seven surviving children, on June 6, 1941, in Genoa, Texas to the self-sufficient farm and ranching couple, Raymond T. Purvis and Myrtle Robinson Purvis.

Kathy enjoyed reading and was known to climb into trees to read uninterrupted. She helped her mother watch her first set of twin siblings (three and a half years younger than her), and went on to help with the younger siblings that followed, while also helping her mother can vegetables and work around the farm. She never forgot the lesson her father taught her to never walk in front of the mules- her whole life she walked behind vehicles, not in front!

She graduated from Madisonville High School and promptly went to the University of Houston School of Nursing, where she met her future husband and love of her life, Don. She worked as admissions supervisor at Breckenridge Hospital while they raised four children together on their beautiful property in the Texas Hill Country; Kathy and Don went on to work as successful entrepreneurs. They were pillars of the community, with Don serving as a deacon at Church and Kathy worked with the youth, going to church camps, VBS and ladies’ group. She loved to read and paint but loved her family most.

Kathy was preceded in death by parents, Raymond Robinson and Myrtle Robinson Purvis; brothers, Andrew Robinson, Willard Robinson and Allen Robinson; beloved husband of 55 years, Don Rowlett; sister-in-law, Phylis Robinson; nephew Ricky Robinson and grandchildren, Richard Rowlett Mays, Laura Canova and Hannah Lattimore.

She is survived by siblings, who were her best friends, James Robinson (Dalene), Nettie Harris (Walt), Andrea Jacoby (Charles) and Sam Robinson (Deborah). Kathy is also survived by her daughters, Debby Rowlett Mays (Stephen), Ann Lattimore (Lorne) and Cindy Canova (Tom); her son, David Rowlett (Michelle) as well as twenty-six nieces and nephews. Kathy was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spoke about them with great enthusiasm to anyone who listened. Her grandchildren are, Kirsten Rowlett Baze, Heidi Rowlett Enright, Audrey Douglas (Moses), Joshua Lattimore, Josh Canova (Rebeca), Duke Goldmith, Danielle Lattimore Ross (James), Jon Mays (Kristin), Carrie Canova- Brown (Adam), Heather Lattimore Mills, Daniel Canova (Macy), Conan Goldsmith (Keighla), Elizabeth Painter (Jonathan) and Ross Lattimore. She is also survived by an immensely loved twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Kathy was very artistic and shared her art generously. She was a warrior for her family, especially her children. She had the sharp mind and wit of an attorney, whilst being joyful, very hard-working, an avid reader and a faithful servant of Christ. Kathy shared her corny sense of humor, sprinkled with puns, ensuing in family and friends’ chuckles and laughter. Regardless of any challenge, she sought a solution, such as when she and Don were first married, she rewired the phone line making it more accessible, or thirty years later, when their rural property needed junipers cleared, she ran 800' of extension cords hooked up to her electric chain saw and cut away!

She was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Truly a Proverbs 31:10-31 woman! She will be sorely missed here on earth, yet we rejoice knowing we will see her again in heaven.

A funeral service honoring Kathy’s life, officiated by pastor Joshua Price, will be held in the chapel of the Madisonville Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2026, at 4:30 P.M. followed by burial in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before the service beginning at 3:30 P.M.

Pallbearers are Larry Robinson, Jon Mays, Joshua Canova, Daniel Canova, Kyle Rowlett, Ross Lattimore.

Final arrangements for Laura Kathleen Rowlett are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
