Karey Lyn Fraley

December 6, 1970 — June 3, 2025

Madisonville, Texas

In loving memory of Karey Lyn Fraley, born December 6, 1970, in Huntsville, Texas. With family by her side, she gently passed away on June 3, 2025, in Madisonville, Texas, her lifelong home. Karey was the cherished daughter of Linda (Brown) Hunter and Jerry Kitchen. Karey was blessed to have a stepdad, Jack Hunter, for the past thirty-five years who treated her as his own. Karey’s spirit touched many and will forever be remembered for her kindness and unyielding love for others.

Karey was a vibrant soul, a heartfelt presence in every room she entered. She spent her days working as a dedicated mailroom clerk for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where her caring nature blossomed as she connected with those in her community. Known for her artistic flair, she found joy in cross stitching and latch hook art during her youth, creating pieces that spoke of her creativity and warmth.

Karey's spirit shone brightest through her deep commitment to her community. A well-loved figure, she cultivated a card ministry that sent love and joy to many, ensuring that every important occasion was met with a heartfelt greeting. Friends and neighbors admired her generous heart, often gifting her with cards and postage, knowing she would transform these small tokens into vessels of love.

While she was unable to have children of her own, Karey’s love for children was boundless. As a certified foster parent, she devoted her evenings and weekends to nurturing the little ones in her life, forming connections that transcended biological ties. Karey was a member of First Methodist Church, Madisonville. In her role as nursery director at First Methodist Church and FBC Madisonville, she created a safe haven for many, exemplifying a nurturing spirit that enriched the lives of both children and parents alike. Karey was also an active volunteer with Bible Warriors, which is a youth ministry in the church.

A devoted member of the local Eastern Star chapter, Karey served as a worthy matron, a role she continued with dedication even as the Madisonville Chapter ended and she transitioned to the Normangee Eastern Star Chapter. Her unwavering commitment to fellowship and service embodied the very essence of community.

Karey was preceded in death by her father, William "Jerry" Kitchen; maternal grandparents, C. H. and Winnie Brown; paternal grandparents, J. W. and Tippie Kitchen; and special friend, Gene Branch. She is survived by her beloved mother, Linda Hunter (husband, Jack) of Madisonville; sister, Kelly Cole (husband, James Dean) of Madisonville; half-brother, Colton Kitchen of Pasadena; niece, Jenna Shull (husband, Chance) of Madisonville; nephew, Kyler Cole (wife, Shelby) of Centerville; great nieces who adored their "KK," Chancey Shull and Lennon Cole; as well as special friends, Beth Caballero and Mary Walker. Karey also leaves behind a community rich with love and admiration for the legacy she has created.

In celebration of her life and the love she shared with us all, a funeral service for Karey will be held at the First Methodist Church in Madisonville on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2 P.M. Pastor of the church, Rev. Jim Jackson, will officiate the service. Karey will be laid to rest in High Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will occur at Madisonville Funeral Home on June 7, 2025, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., allowing loved ones to share their reflections and memories.
