Obituary

Joyce Willine Evans, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was called home on April 25, 2026, in North Zulch, Texas, at the age of 75. Born in Hastings, Oklahoma, Joyce led a life with love, a great deal of laughter, and a deep commitment to her family and faith.

Together with her husband, Dale, Joyce raised their children along with four of her younger siblings. She dedicated many years to the food industry, managing and working in various family restaurants. When God called Dale to the ministry, Joyce unwaveringly supported him as he served for over forty years. As a minister's wife, she gracefully embraced her responsibilities, teaching Sunday school, guiding the youth, and uplifting her church community through song and service. Joyce was known for bringing warmth and laughter to those around her, often delighting her family and friends with her sharp wit and playful humor. An avid reader and skilled crocheter, Joyce treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories and creating unforgettable memories. Her life was a shining example of joy, faith, and resilience, as she took great pride in nurturing and supporting her family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Roy Hood and Katherine Newell Martin; siblings, Linda Taylor, Edith Mae Polk, Robert Ray Hood and Billie Jean Martin; daughters, Joyce "Diane" Evans and Carolyn "Denise" Hanson; and grandson, Austin Lee Cole. She is survived by her husband, Dale Evans; children, Angie Cole, Darla Evans (Robert Coleman), and Danny Evans (Delana); twenty grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ed Balunas, Douglas Martin, Dennis Martin, and Denise Martin.

Visitation will be held at 11 A.M., followed by a celebration of life service at 12 Noon, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Iola Worship Center, Iola, Texas. Turner Yarborough will officiate the service.

The Evans family extends their heartfelt gratitude to their grandson, Cody Bartula, as well as the North Zulch Volunteer Fire Department and first responders for all of their unwavering efforts. Additionally, they would like to express their sincere appreciation to the North Zulch community for their outpouring of love, support, and kindness during this difficult time, as evidenced by the myriad of calls, texts, meals, visits, and prayers they have received.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas -- A Walters Family Funeral Home.
