On August 1st, 2020, John Weldon Reed, Jr. of Madisonville, Texas went to be with the Lord at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Gilda (Peal) Reed. He is lovingly remembered by his seven children: twins, Mary and Carol, John III, Jimmy, Jeffery, Joe and Lynn Ann. He is also remembered by his 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

John was born to John W. Reed, Sr. and Mary (Haynes) Reed on January 17, 1930 at the Beaumont General Hospital. He was later joined by his brother, Robert E. Reed. John graduated from Austin High School and, later, attended Stephenville College where he rode in the college rodeo.

John enjoyed working with horses and selling saddles, tack and automobiles in various places. He loved to travel and he loved spending time with his family, especially, his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

A Memorial Funeral Service is set for 11 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the Madisonville Christian Fellowship Church. Pastor Wade Phillips will officiate.
