Obituary

Joanna Lee Coleman, 48, of Bryan, Texas, passed away on May 12, 2026. She was born on May 1, 1978, to Gene Frank and Joyce Ann (Riden) Coleman in Evansville, Indiana.

Joanna will be remembered not only for her kind heart but also for the love and warmth she extended to all who entered her life. Joanna's open-door policy was a hallmark of her caring nature; she welcomed all who needed a place to belong. Known affectionately as "everyone's mom," she made it her mission to create an inclusive environment, one where judgment was absent and kindness thrived. Her generous spirit and servant's heart touched countless lives, as she tirelessly gave her time and attention to family, friends, and even strangers, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own.

Joanna was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Troy Murphy; and brother, David Driver. She is survived by her daughters, Amber Nelson (Gary) of Jacksonville, Florida and Allisa Wofford of Bryan, Texas; grandchildren, LeAnn Marie Nelson and Isabella Fae Nelson; sisters, Melinda Malek of Conroe, Texas and Beverly Barber (Jeff Guzman) of Cleveland, Texas; nieces, Ashley Brown (Gladys) of Katy, Texas and Autumn Malek of Hockley, Texas; nephews, Austin Malek of Hockley, Texas, Christopher Barber (Cheyanne) of Tomball, Texas, and Anthony Barber of San Antonio, Texas; and great-nephew, Elijah Brown.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
