On March 14, 1954, a baby girl, Jewel Dean Tyler, was born to Dorothy Lee Tyler and Ell Tyler, III. At a young age, Jewel became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Jewel was employed for many years at Madisonville Care Center, Brookshire Brothers and ADAR Health Care. Jewel met the love of her life for fifty years, Johnny E. Gipson, Sr., and upon this union, three children were born.

On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Jewel was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Earl Gipson, Jr.; mother, Dorothy Lee Tyler; father, Ell Tyler, III; brother, Curley Tyler, Sr. and sister, Doris Tyler-Moore.

Jewel leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Johnny Earl Gipson, Sr.; daughter, Leticia Woodard; son, Patrick Gipson (Amber); sisters, Flora Dunn (George) and Mildred Jordan; brothers, Marcus Tyler, Sr. (Joyce) and Elijah Tyler; brothers-in-law, Robert Earl Robinson, Eddie Robinson (Patricia), Lessie Robinson, Jr., Larry Robinson (Bobby) and Steve Robinson (Robin); sisters-in-law, Belinda Gilbert and Lois Price (Reggie); grandchildren, Jaslyn Warfield, Jaliyah Matthews, Jakayla Gipson, Jada Matthews, Autumn Gipson, Makila Gipson, Makinzi Gipson, Jaelynn Gipson, Grayson Gipson and Triston Gipson; great-grandchildren, Bryson Warfield, Kaylee Warfield, Kacen Warfield, Braycen Warfield, Kaylani Roberson and Journee Bedford, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing service for Jewel will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.  Interment will follow in Culton Cemetery, Leona, Texas.  A wake will be held from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Friday, August 25, 2023 at the funeral home.
