Graveside funeral services for Jerald Dean Tarver, age 91, of Madisonville, Texas, will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Farris Cemetery south of Madisonville. Lanier Stevens will officiate the service. A brief visitation will take place from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon, Saturday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Jerald Dean Tarver was born on August 5, 1926 to Garrett & Nannie Sue (Farris) Tarver. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the south pacific during WWII. In his younger days, Jerald was a semi-pro basketball player and semi-pro bowler. He retired from Armco Steel in 1982 as a supervisor and superintendent. Jerald served as the constable for Madison County for twenty years and was a Master Peace Officer. He enjoyed raising cattle, gardening and bowling. Jerald was a quiet individual who most will remember as a true southern gentleman. He had lived in Madisonville for the past thirty-five years. Jerald passed away on November 20, 2017 in Kingwood, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Genelle Tarver and brother, James Tarver.
Surviving family members include son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Brenda Tarver of Spring; daughters & son-in-law, Terry Tarver of Huffman and Connie & David Emerson of Kingwood; brother & sister-in-law, Donald & Jean Nell Tarver of Brenham; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
