James Revis Glover, 74, was born in Camden, Arkansas on March 20, 1951, to parents Hersey Anderson and Mathel Dene Glover, and passed away at his home in Midway, Texas on June 18, 2025.

James lived a good life full of adventure that he embraced wholeheartedly. While serving our nation’s military in the United States Army, James was stationed in Mainz, Germany. He often reflected on this time as one of the greatest seasons of his life. He was a very talented basketball player and was comfortable competing on the court. James will be fondly remembered as a passionate person who was always willing to engage in the debate. He had strong opinions and the gift of reason that often-persuaded others, but not always.

James had boldness and genuine care for others, both of which contributed to his stellar record as one of Houston’s finest firefighters. He served well for twenty-seven years prior to his retirement in 2007. James was an intelligent individual who loved to read. He also found great enjoyment just sitting on the edge of a pond watching the end of his fishing rod with great anticipation.

James is preceded in death by both his parents and his aunt and uncle who raised him, Glacier and Dave Brown Jr.

He is survived by his son Vincent Glover, sister, Carolyn Hardnett Hunter, aunt, Joyce Jefferies (Rodrick) and grandchild Kia Hamilton. Others left to cherish James’s memory are his very special friends Jessie Lee Newman Jr. (Bonita) and Phyllis Spates, Godchildren, Jessie Lee Newman III, Jenise LeNita Hampton (Kedrick), God grandchildren, Kendra Hampton, Kedrick Hampton Jr. and Kendarian Hampton, favorite Arkansas friend, “Duck” together with numerous other extended family and loving friends.

A committal service will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 9:45 A.M. at the Houston National Cemetery.

Final arrangements for James Revis Glover are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
