Georgia Calvert Green

Georgia Green, of Madisonville, Texas, and formerly of Austin, Texas, departed this world peacefully on October 13, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on August 7, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, Georgia was the cherished daughter of George and Verna (Calvert) Perkins, the only girl in a family of strong and loving siblings.

Throughout her life, Georgia's warmth and generosity touched the lives of many. She dedicated a significant portion of her working years to the public school system in Austin, Texas, where her nurturing spirit shone as brightly as the sun. Her love for children was reflected in her role at the cafeteria, where many fondly remember her delicious meals and welcoming smile. 

Raised and baptized in the Baptist faith, Georgia carried her values and convictions with grace. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, finding peace in nature, and often indulging in her passion for fishing. Friends and family alike will fondly remember her as an exceptional cook and baker, always ready to share her favorite recipes and meals with those she loved. 

Georgia lived most of her adult life in the Austin area, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. 

She leaves behind her children, Jackie Gammage, twins, Jeffery and Talford Gammage and Smith Overton III; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as other extended family and friends who cherished their time with her and will always hold her memory close.

Georgia was preceded in death by both of her parents; all of her brothers; daughter, Vicky Cavanaugh and a granddaughter.
