George Earl Coleman

A homegoing celebration for George Coleman, age 63, of Prichard, Alabama, and formerly of Normangee, will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Zion Baptist Church in Normangee, Texas. Rev. M.E. Cooper will officiate the service and give the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Culton Cemetery in Leona, Texas. A visitation will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.

On May 9, 1955 in Normangee, Texas, David Lee Dixon and Inez Coleman became proud parents to a baby boy. They named him George Earl Coleman. He was the oldest of two children. George attended and received his education at Normangee I.S.D.

George accepted Christ at an early age and united with Zion Baptist Church in Normangee. He moved to Dallas and attended church but remained a member of Zion Baptist. Later, he moved to California to live and fellowship with Holy Deliverance Pentecostal Church in Pasadena, California. George was a moderate person and a wonderful father. He worked many jobs throughout his life including Buddy Key Moving and Storage, Bridgeford Food and Joe Good Pastor Trucking, all while living in Dallas. When he was a youth and living in Normangee, George had worked for Westmoreland Grocery Store after school. He also hauled hay and pulled cotton. When George moved back to Normangee as an adult, he did odd jobs and worked for Cattleman Ranch. While living in California, George worked for California Sun Animal Park. George finally settled in Alabama where he was united in holy matrimony to Idella Partee of Prichard, Alabama and worked as a custodian at Mount Calvert Baptist Church and at Moffee Road Storage.

George departed his earthly home to enter his heavenly one on June 25, 2018 in Prichard, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, David Dixon; grandmother, May Robinson; brother, Billy Dixon; grandfathers, Jack Coleman & Harvey Drewey; grandmother, Minnie Bell Drewey; uncles, George Coleman, Richard Porter, James Coleman, Michael Coleman, Alfonso Richard Porter; niece, Latoshia Coleman and cousins, Dee Jones, Timothy Whitmore, Donald Robinson, Sammy Robinson & Chilton Dixon

Those left to cherish his memories are mother, Inez Coleman of Normangee; wife, Idella Coleman of Prichard, AL; daughter, Crystal Hick (Mike); sons, Michael Coleman, Jason Gallway & Jamise Partee; four grandchildren; brother, Elmer Dixon of Madisonville; four sisters, Alice Dewberry of Normangee, Carolyn Jones of Normangee, Venise Megowan (Jessie) of Huntsville and Mary Sanders (R.J.) of Houston; aunts, Jackie Shaw, Tina Coleman, Valarie Coleman & Debra Conish (C. Ray) and uncles, Troy Coleman, Alfronis Coleman, Reginald Coleman, Charlie Conisha (Baby) & John Earl Reed. George is also survived by nine nieces & nephews; eleven great nieces & nephews and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends, as well as, special friends, Joe Brooks of Normangee, Gene Clay of Dallas & John Earl Reed of Prichard, AL and special nephews, Cedrick Brice and Eddie Jones, Jr.
