Obituary

To those who knew her best, she was Two-Mama. But that name meant so much more. It was a reflection of the warmth of her heart, the strength of her spirit, and the unwavering faith that guided her life. She was the heart of her family, a source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love.

July 2, 1947 - October 14, 2026

Eunice Marie, lovingly known to her family as "Two-Mama," was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Two-Mama loved her children and family deeply, but above all, she loved the Lord. A devout Christian, her faith was not something she simply spoke about; it was something she lived every day through her words, her actions, and the way she loved and cared for others. She raised her children to know God and gave them a foundation of faith that will continue through the generations of her family. Her love for the Lord remained a constant throughout her life.

She always found happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially tending to her garden, canning what she grew, and sharing her harvest with family and friends. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where some of the most cherished family memories were made. She learned the art of comfort cooking from her mother, Opal, and took great pride in passing those treasured recipes and traditions down to her children. Anyone fortunate enough to sit at her table knew that her homemade yeast rolls were simply the best. No matter how hard anyone tried, they could never quite make them the way she did. Perhaps it was her special touch, or simply the care she put into everything she prepared. Whatever the secret, those yeast rolls, like so many of her dishes, will forever hold a special place in the hearts and memories of her family.

Two-Mama also had a creative spirit and a remarkable gift for writing. In fact, one of her poems was selected and presented at the Smithsonian, a meaningful accomplishment and a beautiful reflection of her gift for expressing the world through her own eyes.

Two-Mama leaves behind far more than memories. She leaves a legacy of faith, family, love, and devotion. The faith she instilled in her children, the love she poured into her family, the traditions she created, and the lessons she taught will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and generations to come.

While her family will miss her more than words can express, they find comfort in the faith that Two-Mama lived so strongly throughout her life and in knowing that she is now home with the Lord she loved and faithfully served.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

2 Timothy 4:7

From Eunice's journal, "I lay upon my bed, a new day was dawning, I turned to see the first ray of light. I closed my eyes – thoughts pouring in my mind, I thought about this new day. I thought about yesterday, I thought about tomorrow, and what would come to past. Today, I can do better than yesterday; for yesterday is past. What lessons did I learn from this day that has passed. Did I make someone sad by the hurtful things I said? Or did I give encouragement that helped someone along the way! How you live; and what you say - may very well change someone’s life today, that is how we love, that is how we heal. Reaching out with kind words, a gentle smile, that look of understanding. Healing takes time, and healing will not come if you keep the pain inside. God is your comforter, allow him inside. Life has not dealt you a bad hand; it has challenged you. Rise above; the storm will pass and through your faith you will soar upon eagles’ wings."

Two-Mama is survived by her sons, James Sanders and Jason Sanders; and her daughter, Nikki Sanders Jennings; her grandchildren, Shelby Sanders, Trace Sanders, Jarred Sanders, Trevor Sanders, Travis Sanders, Macy Jennings, Bailey Jennings; and her great-grandchildren, Brylee Sanders, Memphis Sanders, Trigg Sanders, Cutter Sanders, and Bentley Sanders; she is also survived by her brothers, Terry Baker and Mike Baker; and her sisters, Kay McMahan and Debbie Baker.
