Ellen Sylvia McVeigh age 79 passed away peacefully on June 10, 2019 in her home surrounded by love. She was born April 3 1940 in Houston Texas, by parents Ellen and Reverend Melvin Smith.
Some people are born with unbelievable talent, it is truly rare but happened in her life. At 3 years old Sylvia crawled up on to a church piano that her father pastored and began learning the basics with her dad. Taking that knowledge and a keen ear she self taught her self to what we have all heard her play. Sylvia did not just play piano she tickled keys and made your ears smile. She began playing for her father's churches in New Jersey until it was time to go off to college, Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. After a while she moved back Houston,Texas and began to play for churches there including First Assembly of Pasadena and Faith Assembly of God in Pasadena.
She was a full time pianist at this point but could play any instrument from a organ to a accordion, but her true talent was her voice and piano and both were a gift for us all. For the last 34 years she had called Madisonville, Texas her home. Playing at Living Truth Church with her husband Reverend, Pastor Lon Mcveigh ministering through her music and God's word. Her commitment and drive for the Lord was something to be admired. There was not a more pure of heart or servant for God.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, daughter, Brenda Foor; son-in-law Mitchell Foor , son, Rick Kemp; daughter-in-law, Teresa Kemp; daughters, Leah Mcveigh, Heather Arcoles and son, Clif McVeigh; grandchildren,Heather Kemp, Alexis Salinas, Laurell Rodgers, Jaylenn Liccioni, Greg Smith (Carrie), Courtney, Heidi, Peyton; great-grandchildren, Blaize Kemp, Mickey Mould, Zeplan Salinas; nephew, John Smith and wife, MaryAnn Potter and great nieces, Bailee Smith and Olivia Smith.
