Douglas Sanford

Douglas Spencer Sanford, 57, was welcomed into the world by his proud parents, Robert and Peggy Jo (Blankenship) Sanford on April 22, 1968, and passed away at his home in Madisonville, Texas on May 4, 2025.

Douglas, affectionately known as “Doug” to family and friends was a man of great character and was always willing to help people when needed. Doug will be fondly remembered for his genuine care for the community. He enjoyed every opportunity to volunteer for FFA, 4H, and the county fair events. Doug was a committed servant to the people around him including not only his volunteer work, but his years of service to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he worked faithfully for twenty-five years. Doug looked forward to spending his spare time working on old tractors. He adored his wife Carrie and was proud of his daughter Emily. Doug will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to know him.

Doug is preceded by both of his parents, Bobby and Peggy Jo Sanford and his mother-in-law, Patricia Parten.

Those left to cherish Doug’s memory are his loving and faithful wife of thirty-five years, Carrie (Parten) Sanford; daughter, Emily Swonke (Austin); brothers, Robert E. Sanford Jr. (Teresa), Kenneth C. Sanford (Nina), and Gerald “Andy” Sanford; sisters, Peggy Jo Trahan (Dwayne); and half-sister, Sandra Sanford, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.

A funeral service, officiated by pastor Matt Carey will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10 A.M. in the chapel at the Madisonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M.
