David Charles Tucker, 80, of Hilltop Lakes, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Hilltop Lakes. He was born on August 18, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Carroll Edward and Martha Evelyn (McKinnon) Tucker.
After graduating from high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Army in Detroit on January 12, 1966. He completed Basic Airborne Training and served in Vietnam as an infantry paratrooper with Company B, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade. On February 7, 1967, he was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. After recovering, he returned to duty and later served as a parachute rigger at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His decorations included the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4 on December 19, 1968.
David began his career at General Motors, where he became an industrial electrician and worked until his retirement.
David enjoyed tennis, fishing, canoeing, and golfing with his son, Jeff. He had an inventive mind and loved turning scrap materials into practical creations and dreaming up new ideas that inspired those around him. He relished a good conversation, whether about theology, politics, or his latest business idea. He cherished the simple joys, like sitting on his porch and waving to neighbors as they passed by.
His primary pursuit, however, was studying God's Word, the Bible, and striving daily to walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He began each day with a warm cup of coffee, prayer, and a reading from his beloved Bible. His faith gave him a heart for others. He took several mission trips, traveling up the Amazon River to help the people there and spending time serving in Haiti and Jamaica, where he put his electrical skills to work on building projects.
David is survived by his son, Jeffrey Tucker (Keri), and his children, Noah, Eliana, Eden, and Cade; his daughter, Ginger Wardwell (David), and her sons, Knightly and Chilton Giaimo; and his sisters, Martha "Marti" Puterbaugh and Nancy Fritz; as well as his close friend, Joyce Korn, and her family.
A graveside service for David will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, October 3, 2026, in Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
