Carroll "Everett" Wooten, 85, of Madisonville, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2026. He was born in Izard County, Arkansas, to Doyle E. Wooten and Geta Rhudean (Hanks) Wooten, on June 19, 1940. Everett was raised in Imperial, California. He graduated from Imperial Valley Union High School and Imperial Valley College with an Associates of Arts degree in 1963.

Everett was preceded in death by both of his parents and an infant sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Wooten of Madisonville; daughters, Tracy Berger (Jeff) of Hondo and Terry Mendoza (Oscar) of Madisonville; grandchildren, Dustin Mendoza, Devin Mendoza, Lexie Berger Pimentel (Jared), and Lindy Berger; and sisters, Marilyn Scates (Charles) of Redlands, California and Anita Ulich of San Marcos, California.

Everett was a member of the Church of Christ on Hwy 90. He had served and worshiped there since moving to Madisonville in 1976.

He flew his first solo in an airplane at age sixteen in a Piper Super Cub. He worked as a commercial airline pilot and flight instructor for various general aviation aircraft and the Lockheed H18 Loadstar. In 1964, he joined Trans-Texas Airways, which became Texas International, then Continental Airlines. He has flown the DC3 and DC9. He was type-rated on the Convair 240 and 600, DC9, DC10, and B727. He flew over 30,000 flight hours in a thirty-six year career. When he was not flying, he was a jack of all trades. He loved fixing anything and often worked on projects with his grandsons. He enjoyed trips on his motorcycle and logged many miles traveling the country on the ground.
