Obituary

Carrie Mae (Johnson) Franklin was born on October 28, 1938, to Ira Johnson, Sr. and Savannah (Brown) Davis in Madisonville, Texas. Carrie grew up with eleven siblings.

Carrie received her education at Marion Anderson High School in Madisonville, Texas, and was a graduate of the class of 1957.She accepted Christ at an early age at Sweet Zion Baptist Church and later became a member of Pool Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful Usher.

Carrie worked for Allee Sewing Factory for several years and later began working for Monterey Mushrooms for thirty-plus years where she retired. Carrie briefly worked for the Madisonville School District.

Carrie married Lester Franklin, Sr. on September 16, 1963; to this union four children were born.

Carrie departed on June 5, 2026, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Franklin, Sr.; her parents, Ira, Sr. and Savannah; son, Lester, Jr.; siblings, Eugene, Ira, Jr., Osby, Andrew, Frank, Rufus, Dorothy, Emma, and Ella, and one granddaughter, Angel Johnson.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memories four children, Terry Johnson (Cynthia), Reginald Franklin (Yolanda), and Dorothy Jabir (Kerry); one brother, Rev. D. F. Johnson (Pinellafie); eight grandchildren, Darsha, Jacqueline (Patrick Sr.), Gwendolyn, April, and Terry, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, and a special niece, Glendia (Vet).

A homegoing service for Carrie will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Pool Chapel Baptist Church, Madisonville, Texas. Rev. D. F. Johnson will officiate the service. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until service time.
