Arthur Lee "Mr. One" Edwards, Sr.

Arthur Lee Edwards, Sr. was born July 26, 1954 to Melvin Edwards and Ella M. (Jones) Edwards. Arthur accepted Christ at an early age after joining Evangelist Chapel A.M.E. He attended Worthing High School in Houston, Texas and completed a GED program in 1987.

On August 2, 2022 at 5:14 P.M., God called Arthur home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards and his brother, Leslie Dawkins.

Arthur briefly married his best friend, Barbara G Brown, then was briefly married to Sheila Edwards before completing his final journey, married for the past twelve years to his love and soulmate, Beverly (Smith) Edwards.

Arthur pursued many careers over his life. First, as an award-winning DJ known as “Busy Bee” as a young man. Shortly after obtaining his commercial driver's license, Arthur worked for the City of Houston where he had a fulfilling thirty-year career as an independent CDL driver. After retiring, he chose to continue using his CDL license to give his time and big heart for the last five years of his life working for Durham Bus Service driving for Madisonville C. I. S. D., where he affectionately earned the name, “Mr One.”

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Faladrick (Denise) Brown, Terrence (Alexandra) Brown, Sedric Griffin, Tamalisa (Joe) White, Stephen Wallace, Deandria (Byron) Wallace Bonaby, and Arthur Edwards II; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; aunts, Ethel Franklin, Velma Benson, Ola Franklin, Pam Davis, and Velma Johnson; great-aunt, Ellen Nellums; uncle, Iron Holiday; and two sisters, Alma McGrew and Essie Thomas.

Homegoing services for Arthur will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Greg Tryon will present the eulogy. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery, Madisonville, Texas. A time of visitation and fellowship will take place Friday, August 26th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
