Andy Koenning was born April 15, 1922 in Ogden, Kansas. She was the second eldest of eight children born to Robert Stevens Richards & Nora (McKinney) Richards. Andy worked for Beech Aircraft as a machinist before enlisting in the United States Navy where she served as a WAVE during World War II. She met and married Eddie Lee Koenning while both were serving at Corpus Christi Naval Base.

Andy was actively involved in raising five children and was a lifetime member of PTA. She was the first adult inducted into the Hall of Honor for the Greater Houston Coaches/Parents Association in recognition of her lifelong commitment to coaching youth bowling. She continued to bowl in a league until her mid 80’s. Andy enjoyed numerous activities throughout her life and was phenomenally talented. She was an avid seamstress and also embroidered and crocheted. She enjoyed reupholstering and refinishing furniture. She also worked on ceramic pieces, played jigsaw puzzles, decorated cakes and loved to cook. There was literally nothing that Andy couldn’t do!
