Olan Haynes, Jr.

Olan Haynes, Jr. was born October 16, 1950 to Olan, Sr. & Birdie (Mitchell) Haynes. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Sweet Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Olan attended school and graduated from Marian Anderson High School in 1968. Thereafter, he attended the Fairfield Barber College, Sam Houston State University, and later, took courses at San Jacinto and Houston Community Colleges.

Olan devoted his life to working and having the finer things in life. He worked with and for Sam Houston State University, Baroid, Exxon, Shell and Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was an avid family man, choir member, and comedian. He kept his family and friends in stitches and with smiles on their faces. Olan made friends easily because of the magnetism of his personality, which is evidenced by his many friends made throughout the years. Olan enjoyed his life and his many years with the Brentwood Baptist Church. He later returned to Sweet Zion MBC as his final place of worship.

Olan's father, mother, and beloved sister, Lynda preceded him in death. Also, cherished uncle and aunt, John & Jessie McAdams. He leaves to cherish his memory loved niece Erica Johnson Nauls (Elijah); great nephews, Sterling "Alex" Johnson (Comesha) & Matthew Johnson; great niece, Autumn Johnson; maternal aunts, Eura Senigaur & Essia Sadles; close friends, John Fuller, Julio Gutierrez, Danny Harrison, Kenneth Hopkins, Melroy Lewis; neighbor, Mr. Green; dear cousins, The McAdams Clan, Ella Mae Ross, Larry Sandles & Earll Washington, as well as, a host of other relatives and friends.

Homegoing services for Olan were held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Sweet Zion MBC. Interment was in Chapel Hill/High Prairie Cemetery.
