James Murphy Davis, Jr.

June 11, 1945 — June 2, 2022

James Murphy Davis, Jr.

James Murphy Davis, JR (Jim) was born in Freeport, Tx on June 11, 1945 to Murphy and Irene Davis. He went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2022.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Connie and brother, Charlie--leaving here on earth his wife Carolyn, best friend and soulmate since high school; two sons, James (Sandi) of Fulshear, TX and Shane (Roxanna) of Willis, TX; his precious grandchildren, Brooke (Dillon) West, Jake (Autumn), Chance and Taylor Davis. He is also survived by brothers, Richard (Jackie) and Roger (Diane) of Arkansas and nieces and nephews.

Jim served six years in the National Guard during Viet Nam.

Jim loved going to all his sons athletic and Ag events. He loved his grandchildren as only a grandpa could.

Jim moved to Leon/Madison Counties in 1998. He went back to his roots of raising cattle. He enjoyed raising bulls for the PBR with Shane and looked forward to weekend visits from James. He started the business of importing rustic furniture from Mexico, bringing in the first load to his barn and selling it to people in Leon and Madison counties. He was one of the pioneers in the rustic furniture business. As he began to age he began to depend on son James to help with the cattle and baling hay and son Shane to work in the importing business. He started the furniture business in his barn and now it imports furniture to all the states in the Southeastern United States.

He loved old cars and started the hobby of restoring old Chevy Trucks.

His health began to decline in January but had a goal to go to Colorado for granddaughter, Brooke’s wedding. That wedding was May 14, 2022. Jim has always loved Colorado. He got to enjoy Colorado and was with his family not knowing it would be his last trip and last time to be with his family.

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
