Darla Janet Giles

Funeral services for Darla Janet Giles, age 80, of Normangee are set for 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Visitation of family and friends will occur from 10 a.m. until the services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Williams-Bethesda Cemetery west of Normangee. Brother Tony Taylor will officiate.

Darla Janet Giles was born in Houston, Texas, on February 20, 1939. Her parents were Floyd and Beulah Bernice (Philips) Laramore. Darla was raised by her mother and stepfather, Ranton Rhodes. Darla graduated from Galena Park High School in 1957 and married Norman Victor Giles.

Darla was a life-long homemaker who moved to Normangee in 2001 and attended church at Hilltop Lakes Chapel. She and Norman lived in Normangee until their deaths. Darla loved to sew, quilt, fish, and collect “Angel” figurines. Most of all, Darla was a loving caregiver and wonderful mother.

Mrs. Giles passed away in Bryan, Texas on November 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-dad, Ranton Rhodes and her husband, Norman Victor Giles.
Surviving family includes her son, Norman Ray Giles of Houston; daughter, Angela Bernice Brenengen (Timothy) of Channelview; a sister, Linda Sue Buckalew of Baytown; grandchildren, Norman Ray Giles, Jr., Natasia Giles, Brandi Giles, An-Janet Victoria Smith, Ciara West and Julie Cleburn (Zachary) and two great-grandchildren, Breyin Smith and Aaliyah Smith. She is also survived by a special nephew, Monty Patterson, and a lot of special friends.

Services are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home.
