Carolyn Hicks, age 68 of Marlin, Texas, passed away October 24, 2018 at her home in Marlin. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place 1 P.M., Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.

Carolyn June Hicks was born July 3, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Richard Eugene & Wilma Lois (Stone) Hyde. She worked as a bus driver for numerous school districts including Grapeland, Alto and Anderson-Shiro. Her favorite activities included watching movies, eating out and traveling. Carolyn most loved being around her family and her dogs. She was constantly taking in stray animals who were in need of a home. Carolyn had lived in Marlin since May 2018, coming from Hearne.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Lois Hyde; husband, Richard “Bubba” Hicks and brother, Ronald Hyde. She is survived by sons, Charles Eugene Brookshire (Donna) of Clute, Clinton Doyle Brookshire (Laurie) of Chicago and Chad Torrence Steeland of Shiro; brother, Richard Eugene “Dickie” Hyde, II (Billie) of Clute; sister, Wilma Jean Holcomb of Houston and grandchildren, Forrest Brookshire of Shiro, Daienera Brookshire of Austin, Alyssa Brookshire of Edinburg, Cody Brookshire of Chicago and Rebecca Brookshire of Chicago.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
