Billy Don "Bill" Jeter

Bill Jeter, age 86, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at his home in Madisonville. Funeral services are planned for 2 P.M., Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Ardie Brown and Charlie Miller will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Oxford Cemetery. A brief visitation will take place before the service from 12 Noon to 2 P.M., Thursday at the funeral home.

Billy Don Jeter was born December 2, 1932 near Tyler, Texas, the only child of Samuel F. & Kitty B. (McAfee) Jeter. He moved to Madisonville at a young age and lived there most of his life. Bill worked for E.P. Thomas from 1958 to 1969. He then worked in the oil business in the 1980’s and was called into the Church of Christ ministry full time January 1, 1984.

Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and collecting, although the items he collected might have been considered junk. Bill also enjoyed being a grandfather to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents and great-granddaughter, Sydney Jeter. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Shirley (White) Jeter of Madisonville; children, Sammy Don Jeter (Karen) of Pattison; Larry Cross (Kristi) of Angleton; Pamela Rigby (James) of Madisonville and Julie White (Danny) of Hemphill; grandchildren, Stacy Jeter (Michelle), Cory Michael Jeter (Tanya), J.R. Rigby (Lisa), Anne Wilhite (Bryan), Lara Patterson (John) and Katie Erath (Tim) and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jordan, Jacie and Jaxson Jeter, Gracin, Hayden & Kaylin Rigby, Brynnan, Bryce & Brooks Wilhite and Joni Patterson.

Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas is entrusted with final arrangements.
