Billie Joyce Poole

Billie Joyce Poole, wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at age 91 on Monday, January 31, 2022, at her residence in Andrews, TX.

Billie Joyce Wells was born on June 25, 1930 in Madisonville, TX to Virgil S. and Sybil Wells. Billie graduated from Madisonville High School in 1948 before attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, where she earned a Batchelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Billie married Thomas J. Poole on May 30, 1953, in Madisonville. Billie and Tom both were born and raised in Madisonville and were high school classmates.

In their early years of marriage, Billie worked as a high school math teacher, a bank clerk, and a legal secretary. They became a family of three when their daughter Pam was born in 1962.

Billie was a homemaker for most of her life as they raised their daughter and Tom’s career moved them to cities which included Houston, Beaumont, Tulsa, Chicago, Lake Charles, and New Orleans. She was very creative, as evidenced by her interest and proficiency in various arts and crafts. She was gracious with an easy laugh and a smile that warmed your heart and found great joy in the lives and accomplishments of her family, especially her grandsons Eric and Cason.

Billie was a member of WoodsEdge Community Church in The Woodlands, TX, where the Pooles had lived for 25 years following Tom’s retirement before recently moving closer to family in Andrews.

Billie is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Poole, daughter Pamela P. Brownlee and husband Elvin D. Brownlee III, grandson Eric T. Brownlee and wife Britney Brownlee, all of Andrews, and grandson Cason S. Brownlee of Denver, CO.

Funeral services will be February 11, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM, with graveside immediately following.
